10 Habits to Boost Agent Productivity

As a real estate professional, the saying "There's not enough time in the day!" holds true for you. Take control of your daily schedule once and for all by practicing these 10 productivity boosting habits.

  1. Write down daily goals. What do you have to / want to accomplish today? Break up your goals into these two categories. By doing so, you are creating a to-do list that is prioritized while also mentally committing to yourself what you will get done for the day.
  2. Make a schedule for the day , and stick to it! Plan everything from follow up calls to breaks. Schedule your day according to your personal motivation levels. For example, if you are most productive in the morning schedule your high-impact tasks then and lower priority tasks for the afternoon.
  3. Break up your larger projects. Working on a buyer presentation  or reorganizing your CRM? Don't spend the a whole day on it. Instead, break the work up into realistic chunks, give yourself a final due date, and schedule out the days and hours which you will work on each piece.
  4. Organize your business activities. Create organized systems for all aspects of your business. For example, every Monday, start the day by adding, editing, and removing your leads. By doing so you are ensuring everything in your database is correct and tracked accordingly.
  5. Limit unplanned social media usage. And every other media heavy website. Liking one thing can lead to exploring another thing... and it doesn't end there. Schedule time for both personal and professional social media and web browsing into your day so you can enjoy yourself and be make connections online while staying on track with your day.
  6. Find ways to hold yourself accountable. Most of the time, as a real estate agent, you are only accountable to yourself. Problem with this? It is easy to put things off for another day. Try telling someone, like your spouse or mentor, about your high-priority task for the day. This will make you feel more obligated to complete it.
  7. Put automated systems and technology to work for you. There are now hundreds of online systems that can help your business run more efficiently. Here is a great list of websites  agents can use to be more productive and tech services that are taking real estate by a storm.
  8. Take breaks. It's been proven time and time again, taking a break will not only drastically improve your productivity levels, but will also help promote a happier, healthier work/life balance.
  9. Have a quitting time. Working for yourself and often times ending the day at home can make it difficult to put down the work. Schedule an end time for each day and stick to it. This will also help with creating great work/life balance.
  10. Rest and relax. Every person unwinds in different ways, whether it is exercise, dinner with friends or family, reading, or listening to music. Make sure you quiet your phone, shut your computer, and allow yourself to properly recharge for a great, productive day tomorrow!
